CMYK vs RGB (please answer me) Post By Oriana - 27/10/2008 10:45:43
I read somewhere that all Photo Gifts, including Photobooks are printed in cMYK... is that true?
And if you do, then should we upload the images in that format so our gift will have more accurate colors?
I don't mind to change the format, just please let me know.

That is my understanding also... but not sure if it is 100% accurate

CMYK for mugs/photobooks/tile/mousepads/t-shirts/calendars/cap/pillow case/plates/ornaments, and so on.

RGB for photo prints/watches/wallclocks/keychains/moneyclip/money case/stickers/photo cards/dog tag/button/magnet and other photo gifts.

Do we need to change them to CMYK? I have been uploading as Srgb and haven't had a problem.

Does anyone know how to upload in different formats. I don't recall seeing the option and I have never seen it in my photo editing programs. I sure hope my photobooks turn out because my pictures are RGB and I didn't change them.

Dear all,

No need to change into CMYK mode.

For most cases, the minor color difference is caused by the limitation of printing machines, not by the RGB or CMYK mode.

Thanks.

If PhotoBooks are printed in CMYK, then why are the provided photoshop template files in RGB?

Suggested by Xerox's staff, you'd better upload the sRGB instead of CMYK.

The Xerox iGen3 will do the color calculation, and change it into CMYK.

If your machine will do the color change and should only be minor differences, why on my book were the faces so red? Everyone looked like they had sunburns after it was printed!

I have experienced exactly the same problem, very red faces in many of my books. Also, some pictures are shown way darker than what the preview shows...
I have to take time to take pictures of the books to show them...

Check out the differences in my pics on the red faces thread.

Have you received any answer from Artscrow?
I remember reading a thread were Berry said there was a problem with their machine...

What thread was that? The only answer I got was "if you don't like the book, send it back."

Even if you provide your pics in CMYK, the printer is still going to convert it to its OWN VERSION of CMYK!!!!
You CANNOT get NO COLOR MANAGEMENT!!!!

Many of you will find a simple explanation of color spaces helpful. I recommend the following link:http://www.viovio.com/wiki/index.php?structure_id=442
These folks use the same printer, I believe, but let me tell you, their software is the pits!
