Photos in Dates

On the order page for the calendars, one of the photos shows a picture in a specific date for someone's birthday. I can't figure out how to do that. Can anyone help?
Also, always before it has saved my birthdates and other special events from year to year. This year, they seem to all be gone. Are those retrievable?
