Designers interested in a "train"... design mini kits that all have same colors/swatch? Reply

I am wondering if any of the other designers would be interested in a "design train".. similiar to a blog train where a color swatch is given and each designer makes "mini" kits. (5-7 papers; 10 elements, 2 pages- for the contest) I thought it would be fun to join together.
Then we can all post them for free at the same day.

I was thinking September or October, the first Saturday as a due date.
I have a few ideas on colors, but we can decide as a group.
    Let me know

That sounds interesting. Would the theme be the same also? I'd probably also post it on my blog as a freebie, would that be OK?

I think we can have a general theme... like "September" or "October"... if that sounds good. And I think it would be a good idea to give away something on your blog if you want to, but you don't have to. I might give away a cluster and a paper, but save the whole kit for artscow. does that sound ok?

Here are some color swatches I have been looking at:

I like the Autumn one but it needs a neutral to balance it out. Anyway, that would be my vote :)

Hey :) thank you for responding :) Hope it's not a hairbrained idea... I think it would be fun and I think it might be a nice way to 'thank' everyone here at artscow :)

Here is an addition to the swatch with a tan, and black and white can be used too.
I will upload a 'photoshop' swatch here in a minute so it can be downloaded... let me know if anyone needs an 'illustrator' swatch!

what do you think about the first Saturday in September as a due date? too far away or too close?

Thanks for the download. September sounds good to me. Are you in the Digiscrap Connect blog train? That one will run in August.

I just posted an official sign up thread :) Yea!! I'm excited!!
I don't do the Digiscrapconnect but I do the Digishoptalk train and usually get lots of traffic from that one. i will have to look up the digiscrap connect one :) I love trains because it gets me thinking outside my zone and gives a deadline (i need deadlines for some reason to become productive- lol)
I hope more designers join this one :) I will wait a few days and then start to contact people through the artscow system to see if they would like to join... I don't think many check these forums very much.
    Thanks so much!!

I used to do the DST one also, but the color choices became too hard to work with sometimes. You're so right about the traffic though, I would get about 1800 - 2000 downloads. The DSC one last time tallied 1507 so I guess that wasn't too bad. And the colors so far have been really easy to put together.

Would we be able to post another 'normal' kit for the contest as well? And when you say first Saturday - you mean in time for the new contest of that week? (That is Sunday morning here).

Are you thinking autumn themed items? Or is it up to us? (Sorry for my questions - only just worked out what a blog train is!)

    HI Cassie!!
Yes, you can post other kits as well.. or even 2 kits that match the swatch, it's up to the designer:)
I have the details on the SIGN UP post... the deadline is the artscow deadline for the Saturday contest (which is September 4 at the artscow allotted time) hope that makes sense
and yes, you can have any theme really just using the colors from the swatch... it can be fallish or summery. Meaning, it doesn't need to be all "fall" things :)

Thanks for the clarification on this Mikki. I was quite confused myself here.
