Dear all,
We are launching "Design Templates", which is one of the best features that we have made.
It is easy to use and user-friendly, see how it works with Memo Pad design template sample.

We are still working on this, and it will be applied to all our current products.

How or where do we see how many notepads we have designed for the 20 notepads. I have been designing them but where so I see that you have counted then as templates?

I'm still a little confused about the way design templates work. If I make a design template for a book using one of my kits and someone wants to use the template, do I get paid the price of the kit, or just 10% of the item's cost? As it is now, if I make a book and someone copies it from the "gallery," they have to purchase the kits used.
Also, can we make templates that include other designers' kits or are we restricted to only using our own?
Can we get further clarification on this? Thanks!

Good questions!
For all design templates, they will be reviewed before you can see it. It takes about 24-48 hours for revision.

If someone wants to use your templates, you will get 10% of item's cost, no price of the kits. If we are running 4.99/each 8x8 Photo Book Promotions with free shipping, you will get profits of $0.50/each book sold.
Here are the several advantages for using the design templates:
1. We will change the browsing structure, when users want to create a photo book, they will have to browse the current "design templates". Here is the link: http://www.artscow.com/design-templates/photo-book , if they do not like all current "design templates", they can start from scratch.
2. Based on our current order history, only a few experienced users will go to gallery, copy your kits and pay the kits. We just did a test in these days, 1,000 memo pad orders, there are over 50% users are using the "design templates" here. It is really an exciting number, exceed our expectation.
3. "Design templates" are now not only just for photo books, but also for all our current personalized products.
P.S.: Design templates must use your own designer's kits, do not include other designers' kits, otherwise, they will be rejected, thanks.

Danielle - I'm not sure when we get the $20, but I know it might take a while to show up in the templates. Items that I labeled as "Templates" yesterday showed up in templates today. The templates I've made today haven't shown up yet. I think there must be a review process of some sort? Hope that helps!

A clarification question about commission. We get 10% minus shipping on all orders placed with our templates right? When items are offered for free (say 5 free 8x8 albums) we only make the 10% commission on the shipping, when items aren't offered for free we make 10% minus shipping? My only fear in this is that people will take advantage of the templates with the free albums and we as designers won't make much. Do they have to pay $7.99 per book to ship x 5 books = 39.95 so we would get $4 commission or only $7.99 so for 5 books we would make $.80? Just wanted to double check. Hope this isn't too confusing.

Do we let you know once we've designed 20 templates or will Artscow simply keep track and then credit our account? I designed 20 today, so not sure what else I need to do?

I just checkbox the "design templates" for 8 of your memopads, and they are added to our templates already. For others, please check the video.

For this case:
Do they have to pay $7.99 per book to ship x 5 books = 39.95 so we would get $4 commission or only $7.99 so for 5 books we would make $.80? Just wanted to double check.
You will earn $4.00
Another case: If we are running $3.99/each with free shipping for 6x6 20p harcover photo books (this promotion should be done in these days), if a customer buy 20pcs 6x6 books using your 6x6 book design templates, you will get $7.98 as profits.
We care about our customers, but we also care about our kit designers.

Lil, that's a great question. So if a customer buys a 8x8 photobook no shipping, we get $0.50 for each book and the customer gets access to the kit forever? If so, I'll have to rethink this, as there are some sports kits of mine that I don't want to give away (basically) for $0.50.

so, will it be possible for you to give us a couple of days advance notice of special promotions so that we can get new templates into the gallery in advance all ready for the promotions?
also, how will we know if a template is not suitable? - will we get an email?
each time a template is used will that show in our cash dollars as normal please?
and lastly can designers have an area 'my templates' in their account as well as 'my kits' - I have several hundred designs and sample products and it can be time consuming to plough through them all
