Privacy update - add to cart is not required when designing templates Reply

I have received an email this morning from customer service which confirms that the add to cart option is not a requirement of templates as I was previously told - see below.

This is a really important privacy issue.

If you do not want complete strangers to have the option to buy products with your photos in then do not select 'allow add to cart'

I have added edited hilights of our email exchange so that you can see what was said - I'm sure you can imagine I had a lot more to say on this issue to both Cecilia and Berry.

Thankfully its been resolved and reliquishing privacy is not now a template requirement.

I would urge all designers to uncheck the allow add to cart box as sadly it is still the default option

    Hello Catherine,
Please accept for sincere apology to this confusion. I re-confirmed the issue and the 'add to cart' is not required. Sorry for any inconience caused. Thank you!
    Best regards,
    Cecilia

Good morning. I'm afraid I do not understand why 'add to cart' has to be a requirement for a template. Please can you explain it to me?
I thought 'show in gallery' and 'template' were the only requirements. I have had many hundreds of templates already approved without 'add to cart'.
I will not select add to cart when there are photos of my family on the product as I will not allow complete strangers to purchase items containing pictures of my child.
This is a serious privacy issue and you should not be expecting designers to select allow add to cart where there are photos in the templates.

    Hello,
Thank you for your support. We noticed that you didn't select the Allow "Add to Cart" for a lot of the design templates you submitted in the last couple of days so we will not approve them. Thank you!

Thanks so much for sharing this - I wasn't even aware that our photos were also added. Oh my gosh, I certainly don't want strangers to have my personal pics either, again - huge thanks for getting this resolved!!

So does this mean we dont have to have add to cart at all? for design templates ... even if we dont have photos of family members in them?

thats right Kerrie, best to just select template & show in gallery. Templates sell better with sample photos and if you select allow add to cart the product can be purchased as is complete with sample photos. With templates the samples drop out when its used which is what customers need.
