Review - I'll be back! (Pictures included) Reply

I received my 8x8 photobook last week. Firstly, I was really pleased with the time that it took to have it made and delivered, and the packaging was carefully done to ensure it arrived safely. Shipping costs were fine, considering the fact that I have yet to find a suitable photobook company in Australia, and find myself paying similar amounts, or more, for international shipping from the US companies that I use.

The quality of the photobook was good. Neither better nor worse in terms of print quality than the other places I've tried (Shutterfly, Picaboo, Snapfish etc) and I will certainly be using Artscow again, given the price compared to other companies.

The templates weren't available when I created my book, but I enjoyed using PaintshopPro to design my own pages. I made an alphabet book for my children, so a template would only have restricted the design. I may use the templates in future, or maybe I'll just get more creative with digi-scrapping (I'm so impressed with some of the other books pictured in the reviews!!)

There are only a couple of things that I'm disappointed in. Firstly, I wasn't aware at first that the page numbers were automatically put on. I'll select not to have them in the future, as they were inappropriately placed on some pages.

Secondly, despite using the template for each page, (no shaded area was applied) the pages were cropped too close, so I lost the edges of some photos, where I had put borders for instance, and also some of the words or letters were cut too close. As for the cover, I didn't really understand the shaded area part, and this was also cropped far too tight, but didn't really bother me for this particular book - luckily it was just a black cover with letter scattered randomly, so nobody has noticed.

For this reason, I'll be reordering the book after making the correct adjustments on PaintshopPro. (Any chance I'll be given another credit to do this??)

Overall, I find the site a little hard to navigate, but regardless, I have recommended Artscow already to ALL my friends and fellow photobook fans. The freebie incentives certainly help!

Thanks! We had a lot of fun with the sentences - Washing windows with water, for W. Ben building with black and blue blocks, for B. We love licking lollipops, for L. You get the idea.

Thanks, Berry. I think you're doing a super job with the customer service, which many of the other companies don't do well enough.
    Keep up the great work!

Cute book. You did a great job. I had the same problems with my book that you did with yours. I don't remember there being a shaded area for bleed on the inside pages when I first did my book, but there is a shaded area now. I noticed when I redid my book (I just sent it in today), that the bleed on the website was a little different than the bleed on their templates. I went back and cropped my pages a little smaller just in case. I'll cross my fingers that it works. It's hard to have something cropped when you worked so hard on it! Like you, I decided to reprint it. Good thing it wasn't too expensive! Good luck with your reprint!
